The Tuesday sessions offer a base level of training for endurance running, as recommended by England Athletics.
Session Level: Intermediate to Elite athletes (open to all)
Age: School Year 8+
Timing: 6.15pm-7.30pm
Lead Coach: Julian Emery
The 60+ minute sessions incorporate:
* warm up
* Winter months: a focus on cross-country running on the streets and in the forest area around Clevedon School:
* Summer months: concentration on track running with interval training on the 400m grass track
* cool down and stretching exercises
Athletes are spilt into smaller groups based upon running pace; the club does, though, expect everyone who attends these sessions to be able to comfortably run 5km.
During the winter months additional sessions may be held on a Saturday morning (invite only), and are advised on a weekly basis by the coaching team.
Julian is assisted by qualified ‘Running Fitness’ coaches Russ Forsbrook and Steve Parsons together with a number of parents who run with the group as ‘back runners’.
Additionally, at any one time the club has a number of members and parents participating in Coaching and Fitness Running courses.
All our coaches are DBS checked and have attended and completed Safeguarding and First Aid courses.
