Success for NSAC in the first round of the Dave Jones Prom Run Series in Weston

Athletes from North Somerset Athletic Club turned up in force for the first of nine races along Weston’s famous prom

NSAC was out in force for the first of 2024’s Dave Jones Prom Run Series on September 12th.

The Dave Jones Prom Runs are an annual series of nine five-mile races, covering two laps of the famous Weston-super-Mare promenade. The races are open to all runners of all standards, over the age of 16. As well as the five-mile race, there is also one-mile series for children aged between four and sixteen, which are also run each month, just before the adult’s race.

The first of the Junior Mile races saw more than 100 youngsters take part, and it was NSAC’s very own Euan M who had a superb run to take the overall win in a time of 5.21, closely followed by Ewan H who edged a close sprint finish with fellow team mate Olly S, who came 3rd .

In the female category Heidi M was the winner in a time of 5.52 followed closely by Bethanie D in 5.57 and Olive L 3rd in 6.09.

And in the Primary School girls category first home was Charlotte M in 6.30, followed by Georgia S in 7.35. The boys Primary School race saw Arthur C take second place in a time of 6.14 .

In the adults give mile race, five athletes from NSAC took part; Stan Barker’s stand-out performance saw him finish 18th overall in a time of 28.52 in his debut at the event. Wendy Martineau was also running in the series for the first time. She was the 28th female and 11th in her age category in a time of 38.52.
